Shri Shakambhari Devi Temple at Jasmor is a major Goddess shrine in Saharanpur District, Uttar Pradesh. Situated near the foothills north of Saharanpur, it is dedicated to Shakambhari, the nourishing form of the Divine Mother associated with vegetation and sustenance. The district administration identifies the location as a Shakti Peeth. Bhura Dev, worshipped as the Goddess’s guardian Bhairava, has a separate temple roughly one kilometre away and is traditionally visited as part of the pilgrimage.

The Peetha is recorded as Shakumbhari, with Shakambhari as the common alternate spelling. Regional tradition associates the shrine with Sati’s head. The Goddess is Shakambhari Devi and the Bhairava is Bhura Dev. The head attribution is found mainly in regional and later Shakti Peetha lists rather than as a uniform conclusion across all classical enumerations. It should therefore remain explicitly qualified while the temple’s independent devotional importance is stated without hesitation.

Large fairs are held during both Chaitra and Ashwin Navratri. Saharanpur district describes the Navratri fair as one of the region’s major religious gatherings, lasting several weeks and attracting large-scale participation. Pilgrims commonly offer worship first or additionally at Bhura Dev before proceeding to the Goddess. The paired shrines, seasonal fairs and strong regional following make Shakambhari Devi an important pilgrimage destination and the centre of a recognised local Shakti circuit.

Note on the body part

Shakambhari tradition at Jasmor associates the shrine with Sati's head and names Shakambhari Devi with Bhura Dev. This body-part account belongs mainly to regional and later Shakti Peetha lists rather than a uniform classical consensus. It should be retained with an explicit source qualification. Sources vary.
