The Skanda Purana Shakti Pithas are sacred seats of the Goddess named in the Shakti Peetha tradition associated with the Sankara Samhita of the Skanda Purana. The list includes prominent Peethas such as Shankari, Bhramaramba, Mahalakshmi, Kamakoti, Biraja, Mahakali, Vishalakshi and Saraswati. These names connect important centres of Goddess worship across different regions of the Indian subcontinent.
This tradition should not be treated as identical to the commonly presented list of 51 Shakti Peethas. It mainly records the names of sacred Peethas and their divine forms, while body-part associations commonly found in later lists may come from other texts or regional traditions.
The modern identification of some Peethas remains uncertain or disputed because ancient place names have changed and different regions preserve competing claims. This page presents the temples associated with the Skanda Purana tradition while distinguishing textual names from later geographical interpretations.
